Subject
The series depicts woods in deep winter, drawn from Zou Yingzi’s own photography. Interlaced branches, vines and nearly five hundred thread colours form a landscape that appears barren yet holds the promise of renewal.
Rhythm and symbol
Moving stitches produce a broken rhythm and evoke persistence, connection and interdependence. Entanglement becomes a prelude to spring rather than a closed knot.
